The New HP IPAQ Series

At the end of 2007 Hewlett and Packard completely changed the entire HP iPAQ line with the introduction of five new iPAQ series'. These are the 100 Classic Handheld Series, the 200 Enterprise Handheld Series, the 300 Travel Companion Series, the 600 Business Navigator Series and the 900 Business Messenger Series. These series were developed to complement the iPAQ 500 Voice Messenger Series that was launched earlier in the year.

Below you'll find a quick description of what the new series' have to offer.

The HP iPAQ 100 Classic Handheld Series is a stylish personal, compact, range of organizers; handhelds measure just ½" thick and weigh in at just over 100g. PDA's from this series do not include a phone so are designed to be companions to your mobile phone rather than replacements. The 100 series features integrated Wi-Fi networking makes it easy to access the Internet and email when within range of a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The HP iPAQ 200 Enterprise Handheld Series has been designed business and can meet specific business mobility needs. The 200 series features a larger screen than the 100 series, making it more suitable for complex applications. It benefits from additional connectivity and comes equipped with Microsoft Mobile Office. PDA's from this series are the same as the 100 series in that they do not include a phone. The 200 series also features integrated Wi-Fi networking just as the 100 series does.

The HP iPAQ 300 Travel Companion Series represent a bit of a change for HP as it is not a PDA. The 300 series is essentially a GPS unit running on the Windows CE 5.0 core Operating System with an HP-built custom user-interface.

The 600 Business Navigator Series is a range of two-in-one 3G mobile telecommunications devices with GPS navigation and personal organiser. The 600 series includes also includes a 3 mega-pixel digital camera and Wi-Fi networking and still weighs in at under 150g.
