Spyware needs to run on your machine, and use resources like the internet connection which causes slow downs. If your homepage changes to a new site or you suddenly find new toolbars and add-ons in Internet Explorer, you are infected. Trying to remove the new additions or changing back settings will fail, as the spyware is programmed to monitor these settings and change them back whenever you reboot your computer.

At this point, you need to get a spyware detection program, also known as anti-spyware, and find out what's annoying you. There are many versions of the software on the internet. A spyware detection product will search your files and documents, looking into every nook and cranny, smoking out spyware lodged into your system. You need to handle this task seriously and take action against unwanted spyware, effectively cleaning your system from parasites.
